Victorville, CA (July 21, 2025) – Authorities have identified one of the two victims killed in a devastating two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday morning in Victorville. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Destiny Simon, 18, of San Bernardino, died in the wreck, along with an unidentified adult male from Adelanto.

The fatal crash occurred around 8:48 a.m. on July 19 in the westbound lanes of Air Expressway, just east of Ranch Rd. According to investigators, the collision involved a silver 2004 Mercedes-Benz CLK 320 and a silver 1998 Honda Accord LX.

Destiny Simon was a passenger in the Mercedes, which was reportedly operated by 19-year-old Jalen Kendall of Helendale. The Honda was driven by the Adelanto man, who was also pronounced deceased at the scene. Kendall sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment.

Emergency responders closed down the roadway while authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. Both vehicles sustained major damage in the crash, and no additional passengers were reported.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of Destiny Simon and the other victim. Our thoughts remain with Jalen Kendall as he fights to recover from his injuries.

Fatal Car Accidents in California

Multi-fatality car crashes like the one on Air Expressway in Victorville are devastating reminders of the risks present on California’s roadways. This collision, which claimed the lives of two individuals—including 18-year-old Destiny Simon—demonstrates how quickly tragedy can strike and how long-lasting the consequences can be for families and communities.

The early morning crash involved a head-on or near head-on impact between two sedans: a 2004 Mercedes-Benz and a 1998 Honda Accord. With both vehicles reportedly traveling on Air Expressway—a wide, high-speed corridor that sees both local and regional traffic—the impact likely occurred at significant speed, compounding the severity of injuries.

Victorville and surrounding areas like Adelanto and Helendale are serviced by a mix of rural and arterial roadways, where line-of-sight limitations, high-speed limits, and fewer safety features like dividers can lead to more severe crashes. Investigators will be examining factors such as speed, distraction, and road conditions as they work to determine what caused this tragic collision.

Crashes involving young drivers and passengers are especially heart-wrenching, given the ages and potential futures lost. Both Simon and Kendall were teenagers, and the loss felt by their families, friends, and communities is profound. The identity of the second victim, an elderly man from Adelanto, further emphasizes how fatal crashes can affect individuals of all ages.

In cases like this, families may struggle not only with grief but also with unanswered questions about what happened and how to move forward. Whether seeking clarity, accountability, or support, it’s crucial to have access to reliable information and experienced professionals who can help navigate the road ahead.
