Barstow, CA (June 2, 2025) – A serious crash involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle resulted in injuries early Monday morning on northbound Interstate 15 near the Cima Rd off-ramp, approximately one mile south of the exit. The collision caused significant traffic disruption and prompted a large emergency response effort.

The crash occurred just after 5:15 AM, involving a semi-truck that sustained major structural damage to its cab and trailer, and a Kia Forte with heavy front-end impact. Reports from California Highway Patrol logs confirm that at least one passenger suffered injuries and required emergency medical attention.

Multiple lanes of I-15 were blocked by debris and an unconfirmed powdered substance spilled across the roadway. Emergency responders worked to contain the scene and gradually reopened the freeway throughout the morning. At one point, only the far-right lane remained open while cleanup and investigations were ongoing. Heavy-duty tow units were required to remove the damaged semi and restore safe travel conditions.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Authorities have not confirmed whether speed, cargo shift, or road conditions played a role in the collision.

We extend our best wishes to the injured individual and hope for their full recovery.

Truck Accidents and Highway Risks in California

Monday’s crash on I-15 near Cima Rd underscores the hazards posed by large vehicle collisions on major freight corridors across California. In remote stretches like this area of San Bernardino County, semi-truck crashes can quickly become complex due to high travel speeds, limited emergency access, and the risk of cargo-related hazards—like spilled fuel or unknown materials.

When trailers rupture or lose control, as seen in this incident, the resulting debris field can span multiple lanes, endangering nearby vehicles and causing secondary crashes. In this case, early reports of a white powdered substance on the highway prompted initial HazMat concerns, and traffic was disrupted for several hours as crews responded and conducted safety assessments.

California’s highway network—particularly along I-15, I-5, and Hwy 99—sees thousands of commercial vehicles daily. While strict trucking regulations are in place, fatigue, mechanical failure, and visibility issues continue to contribute to serious incidents. The crash near Cima Rd also highlights the importance of safe following distances and proactive maintenance, especially for long-haul transport vehicles.

For those injured in commercial vehicle collisions, medical recovery is often just one part of a longer journey. Legal, financial, and logistical issues can arise, and having the right support is essential.
