Petaluma, CA (July 21, 2025) – A police pursuit in Petaluma ended in tragedy Saturday night when a fleeing vehicle crashed and rolled over off Lakeville Hwy, killing one person and leaving three others with serious injuries.
According to the Petaluma Police Department, the incident began around 10:10 p.m. on July 19 after officers responded to a gas station along Lakeville Hwy following a report of a possibly intoxicated driver. When officers arrived, the suspect fled in a vehicle, prompting a pursuit.
The chase came to a violent end near the intersection of Lakeville Hwy and Old Lakeville Rd No. 1, where the suspect vehicle left the roadway and overturned.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and found four occupants inside the crashed car. One passenger was tragically pronounced dead on site. The driver and two additional passengers were seriously injured and transported to area hospitals for emergency treatment.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved. The Petaluma Police Department and California Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the pursuit and the crash.
